The Best Waikiki Restaurants
Feb 2 , 2012
When visiting the area of Waikiki it will be necessary to stop at a few restaurants between sight-seeing visits. Here are the best Waikiki restaurants to try when visiting the beautiful island of Honolulu.
Duke's Restaurant and Canoe Club: This restaurant specializes in American seafood and is like the Hawaii version of Hollywood. It is known for its sauteed mac nut and herb crusted fresh island fish. Do not leave without sampling this dish. The restaurant is always busy and some of that can be attributed to its location on the ocean. It is only steps away from Waikiki Beach and has a full menu for all taste buds.
Doraki Sushi: This sushi joint has a little bit of Cuban influence. It is slightly different than traditional Japanese sushi and is famous for their emperor rolls. Like most places in Honolulu, they have their fair share of fish, including bass. There is also garlic steak and some of the best sake on the island. The atmosphere is great and the prices are reasonable for a nice, elegant sit-down dinner.
Yard House: This bar is known as a great place to watch a game, but also has some of the best nachos on the island. Come here for a great American burger and stay for a game. It is known to have the best selection of draft beer in Honolulu. After enjoying a burger, be sure to sample the cheesecake. Stay late and listen to the classic rock play all hours into the night while sampling the self-proclaimed world's largest selection of draft beer.
Puka Dog: The restaurant serves their version of a hot dog, known as a Puka Dog and it is one of the most unique ways to eat a hot dog. The hot dog is placed in a toasted bun and wrapped up similar to 'pigs in a blanket'. Condiments are then added on top of the hot dog, including relish, ketchup, and mustard among others. There is also a special garlic butter sauce added to the hot puka dog to top it off.
Ramen Nakamura: One of the many Japanese restaurants in Waikiki, this just may be the best of them all. They are known for their miso ramen and fried rice. These noodles are very tasty and the fried rice is also excellent. Many people consider it to be the best place to get ramen outside of Japan. Don't forget to stop here before leaving the island.
Enjoy your meal while staying on the beach at one of the best beachfront restaurants.
